The Gulla there is almost the same as my Creole here in Jamaica. Tell your authorities that it is unkind of them to insist that you not correct spoken English. Without a good grasp of spoken English, you are limiting yourself. Regardless of where you are or what your native tongue is, mastery of English (spoken and written) is key to your academic and economic advancement. Ask the Chinese; ask the Japanese, ask the Singaporeans.
That's why I decided on not going to D.C., although I do have some people there who've promised to share some of their work with me. I've a friend who is a professional videographer. He mentioned something about actually having to go through a lot of red tape, just to be able to set up, and have him and his employees videotape the thing. Now what is THAT all about, Donna? I figured there would be thousands of people with video cameras taping this, so why would he need to go through massive red tape?
Frankly, I am not caring, just as long he keeps his promise to send me a copy of his finished product -- I told him to stop whining to me, and just promise me that one thing. LOL.
Here in the Bay Area, it is hard to conceive of these cold temperatures. During the day, the weather is nearly like spring, although at night it gets very cold. I keep forgetting that much of the rest of the country is so cold.
The tentative plan is that a friend is bringing his big screen here to ME and a small party of us shall watch here at my house. This is subject to change, depending on whether he really does it. The television is SUPPOSED to arrive here in the next several hours (by 10a.m. Pacific Time). He is going to use his work truck to transport it, then set it up, etc., etc. If he does not do that, then everything shall happen at his place.
He sometimes stresses me by being late so much, so 10a.m. may turn into noon. LOL. I must realize that he IS doing this on work time, although his job affords him all the leniency in doing what he wants, and going WHERE he wants without any accountability whatsoever.
I've so much work to do, Donna. I am working on, and shall be working on an article, a COLOSSAL article, probably clear into tonight and early morning. This is going to be the most comprehensive and the most important article that I have ever done. After all, Obama is the reason I came to Gather in the first place, and now . . .now all has been accomplished, but NOT accomplished. Obama wants us to continue on, and so I shall. However, the bulk of my work shall be done now on another site. I doubt that most on Gather shall hardly notice that I'm really working on another site, though.
Hey, Donna: it was due to you that I'm going to be here with the consistency that I shall be here. The Doc USED an exchange between the two of us to keep me here in consistent force. The Doc is smart; truth be told, the Doc is something else!, but he IS my Doc, and he cares so much for me, and vice versa. He's battling the flu now, and is really being a curmudgeon about it.
Okay, I suppose I should get back to work. It was a pleasure break in communicating with you. Will you do an article on your view from D.C., even though it shall be primarily from the television. You still have the advantage of seeing the hustle and bustle of all going on around you! :=)
